Speech and language therapy (SLT) is a specialist children's service that works in partnership with education in Glasgow to support childern and young people with speech, language and communication needs (SLCNs). One purpose of the service is to prevent SLCNs or reduce the impact through training and awareness raising and promoting language and communication development. Where identified SLCNs cannot be managed by the people around the child then referral to the service is an option and we offer an open referral system.
In order to support best practice in nurseries and schools we have a named speech and language therapist for each educational establishment in the area who acts as a first point of contact prior to any referrral to the service.
